A workshop, a compass, and a promise.
Northstar Works was started in 2026 by a small group of craftspeople in Austin, Texas, with a simple discontent — too much heritage marketing, too little heritage product. We make twelve things, on purpose, for people who don’t want to replace what they own.
Standards that don’t compromise.
Full-grain. Always.
Vegetable-tanned leather from Hermann Oak (USA) and Italian tanneries certified by the Leather Working Group. No bonded leather. No corrected grain. No exceptions.
Saddle-stitched at the stress points.
Machine sewing where it doesn’t matter. Hand saddle-stitch where the piece flexes, where sweat and weather work on it, where a loose thread becomes a failure.
Machined, not stamped.
Solid brass from Connecticut and Japanese suppliers. Real lacquer, optional patina. Nothing plated. Nothing pot-metal. Hardware that develops a story instead of failing.
The compass-rose mark is the promise.
If it ever fails — bring it back. We repair, replace, or credit. Full stop.
